Melissa is the new superintendent who has set her eyes on the crime family John is a part of. Aloysia, whose actions are highlighted throughout the book, is driven by a need to vengeance for her fallen family who fell under the hands of the head of the crime family, who happens to be John’s brother. The instability of these will also affect John’s drive for stability.”
